IHSA Team Winding Up Fantastic Year

OSU’s IHSA team has come to the end of another fantastic year. Following our Reserve National Championship title after last year’s competition in Kentucky, the team had high hopes going into this year’s competition. The team wasn’t let down, taking home both the Western and Hunt Seat team high points from the Region. The Western team will travel to Ocala, Florida, in March for the Semifinals competition and the Hunt Seat team will be competing at Zones in Stanford, California, both with hopes of continuing on to nationals. The team also has eight individual Hunt Seat riders competing at Regionals in Portland next month, and six Western riders advancing straight to the Semifinals in Florida. Oregon State’s Open rider, Elizabeth Whitman, took home the award for Regional Highpoint Western rider and will advance straight to Nationals to compete as our Region’s AQHA rider against riders from every other region in the country. Another Oregon State rider, Abbie Zanone, is currently tied for Hunt Seat Regional Highpoint rider and will compete in a ride off at Regionals for the chance to advance to Nationals as the Region Caccione rider. Both Whitman and Zanone have competed at Nationals as individual high points and been successful. We look forward to watching the upcoming individual and team successes at Nationals in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the beginning of May. “Ride Hard, Get Dirty, Have Fun!”
