Doug Chambers' activity in the sheep industry began when, as a boy, he traveled with his grandfather, buying lambs for the family-owned Valley Packing Company of Salem. He has since been a lamb buyer, commercial sheep man, purebred breeder and the judge of innumerable sheep shows. His first love has been purebred sheep. He has served in the capacity of director and national president of both the American Shropshire Registry Association and the North County Cheviot Association. Doug was appointed to the first Oregon Sheep Commission and later served as its chairman. Although now retired, he continues to raise Shropshire sheep and remains active in the sheep industry.
