James E. Oldfield received his Ph.D. in animal science at Oregon State University in 1951. He has served as researcher, professor, civic leader, and head of the Department of Animal Science at OSU. Dr. Oldfield is noted for his research on the role of selenium in white muscle disease. He is past president of the American Society of Animal Science, and recipient of the ASAS Morrison Award, 1972. He is truly a friend of the livestock industry, students and community.
