My program emphasis is to improve the quality, quantity, and utilization of forages for enhanced livestock health and productivity. Major projects include: Improving calf performance, carcass characteristics, and ranch profitability by extending the grazing season with warm season grasses and Brassica forages; Forage value of pasture weeds in southwestern Oregon; Selenium fertilization of pastures for improved forage selenium content; Early spring forage production for western Oregon pastures
