INTRODUCTION

The Animal Sciences Department encourages students to accept an internship during their academic career. Internships are an excellent method to gain industry experience and contacts. Interns may find cooperators to work with on their own, through job announcements or by using department resources. Most internships require 9-12 months of planning ahead of time and are taken usually between a student's Junior and Senior year. The department has some basic requirements for a student to receive internship credit. These requirements are:

Complete Internship Learning Agreement before starting your internship. Internship activity must be approved by Department. The activity must be professionally enhancing to qualify for internship credit. 1 credit will be given for every 40 hours of experience up to a maximum of 12 credits. A daily log of activities is required. A summary paper of the internship is required. 2-6 action photos of the internship are required. Other requirements may be added.

The first step of formalizing your internship is to complete and submit this linked form. If you are looking for an internship cooperator e-mail: L.J. Koongor make an appointment to discuss your options. Please provide a general outline of your internship needs. The following internships may be available to students in the Department of Animal Sciences. Some of the listings have specified deadlines for the current year while others are open-ended. For additional information, inquiries, contact the organization's contact person(s), or if registering for credit, etc., see L.J. Koong, Internship Coordinator, Withycombe Room 122.
